Paras is a Clinical Psychology practicum student at the Michigan School of Psychology, where he is completing his Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology. He comes to the field of psychology after a long career in healthcare, bringing with him years of experience working with people, healthcare professionals, and organizations. Paras also serves as adjunct faculty at Florida Institute of Technology, where he teaches undergraduate courses in healthcare quality improvement, planning, and policy. He also holds an MBA in Healthcare Management and completed one-year postgraduate training at Harvard Medical School focused on patient safety, quality, healthcare informatics, and leadership.

Paras believes that one of the most important parts of therapy is simply having a place where you can be yourself and feel genuinely heard, understood and respected. Life can be complicated and sometimes having someone walk alongside you, without judgment, can help bring greater clarity, perspective and hope. His approach is warm, collaborative and person-centered with an appreciation that every individual brings a unique life story, culture, set of relationships and personal strengths into the therapy room.

Paras is interested in working with adults, couples and families experiencing anxiety, trauma, depression, stress, grief and loss, relationship and family concerns and major life transitions. His years in healthcare have also shaped a strong interest in the connection between our emotional and physical well-being. He is especially interested in health psychology, cognitive and brain health, and how our experiences, relationships, stress and physical health can influence the way we think, feel and function.

Above all, Paras hopes to create a space where clients feel comfortable being open and curious about themselves. He believes therapy is a collaborative process and that meaningful change can begin with greater self-understanding, compassion and recognition of the strengths we may sometimes overlook in ourselves.

Outside of his professional and academic life, Paras enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, staying active and learning about psychology, neuroscience, health and wellness.
